International for $710 million

The FONA deal follows
McCormick's recent
purchase of the Cholula
Food Co. for $800 million.

HUNT VALLEY, MD. - McCormick & Co., Inc. has
acquired FONA International, LLC, Geneva,
Ill., for $710 million in cash. FONA International is a flavor manufacturer that serves
the food, beverage and nutrition markets.
The FONA acquisition is the second
significant transaction McCormick has

made during the past two months. In late
November, the company announced plans
to acquire the Cholula Food Co., the maker
of Cholula Hot Sauce, for $800 million.
" The acquisition of FONA reinforces
McCormick's global growth strategy as
FONA expands the breadth of our flavor
solutions segment into attractive categories, as well as extends our technology
platform and strengthens our capabilities, " said Lawrence E. Kurzius, chairman,
president and chief executive officer of
McCormick & Co. " This acquisition also
accelerates the strategic migration of
our portfolio to more value-added and
technically insulated products and thus, is
expected to be accretive to gross margin. "

Nestle to invest $100 million
in frozen foods facility

JONESBORO, ARK. - Nestle USA plans to
invest more than $100 million to expand
its frozen foods facility in Jonesboro. The
expansion will include the addition of

90,000 square feet to the facility as well
as a new production line for Hot Pockets
frozen sandwiches.
" Consumers are embracing eating at
home like never before and rediscovering
the frozen category, an evolution brought
on by the pandemic that is showing signs
of taking hold for the long term, " said Mike
Mahon, plant manager in Jonesboro.
Founded by Chef America Inc. in
1983, Hot Pockets was acquired by Nestle
in 2002 in a $2.6 billion transaction.
Nestle opened the Jonesboro facility
in 2002. It has undergone several expansions over the past 18 years and currently

Co. The company has a manufacturing plant
and innovation center located in Illinois, and
it employs approximately 220. McCormick
said it plans to retain the FONA brand.
